The new cardiac kids

Seems like the Mets have been involved in a lot of one-run games so far this season; I think I read the other day that the run differential in their 5 losses has been 6 runs, and even their wins have been nail-biters. I mean this kind of excitement is why I love baseball so much (call it a slow-moving game all you want but never call it boring- I’m still adrenalized after that 9th inning!) but I’m gonna wind up with some kind of condition by September.

How great have these last two games been? Sheff whacked #500, Castillo has been doing exactly what we’d all been riding him for not doing, Johan was just freaking Supernatural again (0.46 ERA? Come on…) And the bullpen! I actually heard them say last night that the Mets’ bullpen has the lowest staff ERA in baseball… After these last two seasons, to hear something like that just HAS to give you hope. (They just showed it on the postgame- 1.80 ERA… Friggin sweet.)

Omar, I must once again apologize to you for wanting to put you on the Acela to DC. Johan goes 7 scoreless innings, Putz and Frankie nail down the 8th and 9th, Mets win. Today’s game was a perfect example of why the things you’ve done just may deliver us a championship.

Looking forward to seeing Nelly Figs out there again tomorrow (wonder where his family’s gonna sit). It’ll also be nice to see Castillo come up big, but mostly because I love watching his postgame interviews to try to figure out which words are actually english and which are Castill-ian. A sweep would be nice, too, so it can be proven that whenever Willie Randolph sits in a dugout in Flushing, it’s the kiss of death. I’d also like to see that meatwad Prince Fielder bellyflop next to first base again… That Shamu impression he did at the end of Friday’s game was spot-on.

Seeya tomorrow!
